TiE ScaleUp is a "sector agnostic" accelerator and we bring in companies from all areas of industry. 

Companies that are in a position to best leverage the offerings of ScaleUp often exhibit the following characteristics:

  • Commitment to actively participate in the TiE ScaleUp program contents till completion

  • Early product market fit achieved/demonstrated

  • Revenues $200K+ or on a demonstrable path to such revenues from multiple customers

  • Raised or invested $100K +

  • Founder/CEO looking for/receptive to mentoring

  • Diversity in full time management team

  • Located in New England area


Exceptions can be made for companies depending on the growth cycle of their sector. Not all of these characteristics must necessarily be present for a company to receive an invitation to TiE ScaleUp. If you have any questions on your eligibility, contact Dean Walsh at  


Through the diversity of knowledge and experience in the mentor pool, we can support the growth of any compelling company from any sector. 

We are looking for companies at an appropriate stage of growth to maximize the offerings of the TiE ScaleUp program and to enter the TiE Boston community. For this reason, we do not have a set quota of companies for each cohort. However, we do strive to keep the cohort small to ensure each company is receiving the attention and resources necessary to succeed.

There is no fee to apply and every application will receive feedback from our review committee members. The application should take founders 10 - 15 minutes to complete. Though our application varies from year to year, we generally ask for the following information: 

  • Contact Information

  • Company Business Model

  • Market Opportunity

  • Current Business Model

  • Revenue Stream

  • Fundraising Plans

  • Barriers to Scale

  • Pitch Deck

In curating a cohort of the leading "Seed to Series A" startups, we have two rounds of review led by experienced mentors and entrepreneurs from TiE Boston. 

We ensure: 

  • Each application is reviewed online by at least three entrepreneurs from our community; and

  • All applications materials are treated with care and information not shared outside of the review process. 

If a company has advanced to the second round of review, we will send an invitation for an interview. Founders will have an opportunity to go through their pitch deck and to share more details on the challenges facing the company. This helps us to better understand what you are working on and to also have clarity on how we can best support your company should we bring you into ScaleUp.

Jan 18, 2022: Applications Close

Jan 18-28, 2022: Final Reviews and Interviews with Admissions Committee

Jan 28 - Feb 2, 2022: Decisions and feedback are released and invited companies have one week to confirm their place in the program. 

Feb 5, 2022: Cohort 8 roster is confirmed and founders are invited to the pre-launch mentor mixer in late February.
