NEW ENGLAND'S 1st AND ONLY SEED+ TO SERIES A ACCELERATOR
WHY SEED TO SERIES A?
We know that this is a tough time for startups. You have customers, you have a team, you are burning through your cash and expectations are high. Our community has a wealth of experience to help you tackle these challenges and prepare to scale. We have been there and we will help you get to where you need to go.
WHAT WE DO
A program of TiE Boston, we help the teams of "Seed to Series A" companies overcome typical barriers to growth by helping them to optimize their strategic positioning, operations, sales and competitive advantage.
WHY WE DO IT
Founding a startup is tough. It's lonely. TiE Boston has a vibrant community of serial entrepreneurs, thought leaders and industry experts who understand these challenges and can help you identify pathways to scale. Through TiE ScaleUp, we support your growth and help you succeed.
When you have raised funding by developing your products and services, leveraging your team and offering a breakthrough value proposition to your customers - you are doing something right. We help you take your company to the next stage of growth by rolling up our sleeves and addressing topics and challenges relevant to companies in your maturity.
ACCESS TOP MENTORS FROM BOSTON
Each startup admitted to TiE ScaleUp is matched to two mentors from our vast network of entrepreneurs who have successfully scaled and exited their own companies.
TiE ScaleUp was a great experience for founders to get out of the normal day to day craziness of running a startup and to connect with fellow founders to talk honestly about relevant topics and expand our networks. We also really loved the sessions with the extremely accomplished speakers, and have gone on to implement what we learned in our business. We can definitely say that TiE has made us a better company.
WHO WE LOOK FOR
Through the diversity of knowledge and experience in the mentor pool, we can support the growth of any compelling company from any sector.
We are looking for companies at an appropriate stage of growth to maximize the offerings of the TiE ScaleUp program and to enter the TiE Boston community. For this reason, we do not have a set quota of companies for each cohort. However, we do strive to keep the cohort small to ensure each company is receiving the attention and resources necessary to succeed.
We’re committed to being a safe and inclusive space for all our attendees, regardless of gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, age, race, nationality, ethnicity, disability, medical conditions, religion (or lack thereof), physical appearance, politics, or ideology. Our Code of Conduct is here to provide a clear set of guidelines to everyone in the TiE Boston community about the standards to which we hold you—and ourselves.
Cohorts go through a program which kicks off with mentor mixer in February and concludes with a showcase in June. Our curriculum is taught by professors of leading business schools, serial entrepreneurs and thought leaders. The TiE ScaleUp Faculty curate each session to help you dig deep into the operations of your startup and to walk out with an immediately applicable framework or plan to scale. Check out our FAQ page for answers to some of your questions.
Confirm Your Spot in ScaleUp
The program cost for admitted companies to join the program is $1995. This fee is used to offset running costs for the program. You will have immediate access to the TiE Boston Charter Member Community and receive invites to network and build close relationships with the serial entrepreneurs and investors in our community.
Orientation & Welcome Reception
On day one we are already working with you to hone in on your challenges and preparing you for success. We close the day with an invite-only reception of individuals who can help you in your growth trajectory.
Pre-Launch Mentor Mixer
Get prepared to network with a large group of entrepreneurs who have successfully scaled and exited their companies! After connecting with potential mentors at the mixer, you will have a chance to select which mentors you would like to work with. Once you have been matched, you will work with those two mentors for the duration of the program. If you want to continue the relationship with your mentors post-program, companies tend to offer 0.3 - 0.8% of their equity (in the form of advisory shares). This is only to be given at the discretion of the company upon the conclusion of the program, combined with a minimum mentor satisfaction rating and a vesting schedule.
During the program, we schedule these fireside chats so you can get guidance and unfiltered access to titan entrepreneurs.
Pop Up Sessions
Based on the needs of the current cohort, we arrange for optional sessions to focus on industry specific needs such as applying for SBIR funding, FDA approval, etc.
Workshops & C-Suite Roundtables
We organize regular workshops to help founding teams do a deep dive into each component of their business model. Sessions are taught by the TiE ScaleUp Faculty in addition with alumni who have graduated the program.
We also host a number of discussions that are closed to the current cohort so they may share their triumphs, challenges, receive support and feedback from their peers
Test your pitch with angel investors and venture capitalists to receive feedback and suggestions on how to best prepare for your next raise.
Once you complete the program, you are still connected to ScaleUp Alumni get plugged into our alumni resources and stay connected with each other!
